ROBERT G. WILLIAMS

Robert G. Williams, 83, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away in Culpeper, VA on January 26, 2011 after suffering from a long fight with diabetes. Robert was born in Washington, DC on March 2, 1927 and was the son of Anna G. and Frederick G. Williams, Sr. He was the husband of the late Jean M. Williams and the loving father of Carol Ann Freeman and husband John of Bealeton, VA. He is survived by his brother Fred Williams and wife Leslie of Frederick, MD; five grandchildren, Karen, Cori, Andrea, Emily and Eric; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher, Breanna, Cailyn and Nicholas; niece Cindy Williams; nephews Dale Williams, Gary Williams and Steve Williams. Robert served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. Robert was recognized by the American Red Cross for blood donations. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, MD for over 40 years.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD 20901, 301-593-9500, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011. Interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD. Memorial donations may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 234, Bealeton, VA 22712.
