On Sunday January 27, 2019, Kathleen Mary Swanson, also known as “Kathy” or “Mom,” passed away at the age of 66 in her home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband William Robert Swanson. Kathy will be remembered by her four children – Hale R. Swanson, Wade L. Swanson, Reid W. Swanson and Karen Y. Greene; one grandchild, Jason Wanjiku; lifelong friend, Carmelita Sorensen as well as friends and family from Washington, DC to her childhood home in the North Shore of Chicago.

Kathy was a graduate of Regina Dominican High School and John Carroll University. After the death of her beloved husband in 2000, Kathy became involved in various local charities. She was an avid reader and had a passion for traveling.

Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1325 36th Street N.W., Washington, DC, 20007 Friday, February 1, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., where Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to the Semper Fi Fund or the John Ritter Foundation, which supports research of thoracic aortic disease.
