ROBERT VINCENT SLOAN

Robert Vincent Sloan, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2013 at the age of 79. Bob was born in Syracuse, NY and attended high school at the Christian Brothers Academy there. He was a graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse and began studying for his law degree at Georgetown University and received his J.D. from the University of Baltimore. He began his legal career working at the U.S. Patent Office in Washington, DC for 10 years and then worked at the law firm of Sughrue Mion for 32 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mary Grace; his four sons Tod (Mary, wife), Kevin (Cecilia, wife), Brian and Tim; and his seven grandchildren Katie, Emmett, Conor, Brendan, Owen, Mathew and Abigail. As a man of deep faith, he was a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish in Kensington, MD for 53 years where he served as a lay minister of the Eucharist, a reader at church services and president of the Parish Council.

Friends, relatives and business associates are invited to join the family in celebration of Bob’s life at Holy Redeemer Church, 9705 Summit Avenue, Kensington, Maryland at 11am Monday, September 16. A wake will be held at the same location from 4-7pm Sunday, September 15. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends Club, 6601 Bradley Blvd, Bethesda, Maryland or directly at their web site www.friendsclubbethesda.org.
