ROBERT JAMES SLAYTON
“Bob”
Passed away August 21, 2015, in Johns Creek, Georgia at the age of 67. Bob was the beloved and devoted husband of 42 years (40 legal) to his wife, Lisa. He was the father of Gordon Davis and daughter-in-law, Deana and had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Payton and Casey. He was also survived by his brother, Joseph Paul; sister-in-law, Karen, and their children, Angela and JW Slayton. Bob progressed from Coolidge High School, Montgomery College, American University and graduated from Pitt University Medical Physics Master’s program. He worked in Radiation Oncology and was an Army Captain and Commander in the Public Health Service, retiring after 24 years. Bob loved being Mr. Fix-it and an extraordinary trivia and minutiae buff. He was an avid Redskin fan, loved martial arts, power lifting and wrestling, playing and refereeing volleyball and watching his granddaughters play lacrosse. Bob lived for many years in Washington, DC. Bob and Lisa moved back to Florida and were an inseparable pair that loved skipping, dancing and traveling. The family will receive relatives and friends to celebrate his life and support one another from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD (valet parking). Interment will follow at a later date to be held at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Honors for his military service to his country.
