Of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on May 1, 2016. Mr. Shackelford was born in Detroit, MI on June 23, 1928 to Fred Lee Shackelford and Lela Prow Shackelford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy June Shackelford (nee Smith). He was the loving husband of Alice Combs Shackelford for 15 years. He is survived by his wife and children, Sue Parrish and husband, Mike, Gail Hess and husband, David, Lee Shackelford and wife Maureen, Jeanne Zierdt and husband, John; his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his step-son, Donald Combs and wife, Flo, their three children and two grandchildren; and his brother, Dan Shackelford and wife, Gay.
