VINCENT A. PEPPER

Passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011. Vince was the founding partner of the prestigious communications law firm of Smith & Pepper, and its successor, Pepper & Corazzini. Representation by the firm included many major radio and television groups together with dominant cable organizations. Vince was counsel and business advisor to the Rounsaville Radio Stations, SCI Television (George Gillett), Busse TV, New World TV, Capstar, Turner Broadcasting Systems (Ted Turner), and Gray Television. Vince was the principal owner of radio stations in Kentucky and cable TV systems in Tennessee and Washington. He served President Ronald Reagan’s administration heading the FCC transition and also served as Senior Advisor on two international broadcasting treaties. He served as General Counsel to the National Association of Media Brokers from its inception in 1985 until March of 2007. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAMB in 2003. Vince was very active in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) during the 1960’s and 70’s as coach for numerous boys and girls athletic teams for both St. Bernadette’s and St. Peter’s Elementary Schools. For many years he also served as lector at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Olney, Maryland. He was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne J. Pepper. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, Vincent A. Pepper, Jr. and wife, Geanne; his son, Michael A. Pepper, and wife, Diane; his daughter Mary Anne Friedrich, and husband, Mark; his daughter, Terri Pepper Cameron and husband, Donald; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2900 Sandy Spring Road, Olney, MD on Thursday, December 22 at 10 a.m. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice Society, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.
