December 17 2017: O’MALLEY, Dr. Joseph P., Sr.

Dr. JOSEPH PAUL O’MALLEY, SR., M.D.  (Age 87)

On Tuesday December 12, 2017 of Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband of Elaine M. O’Malley for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his children, James and David O’Malley and is survived by his children, Joseph P., Jr., Stephen, Julie (wife of Randall Smith) and Philip O’Malley and his granddaughter, Trisha Calomino (wife of Michael Calomino). Joseph graduated Holy Cross College in 1951 and Harvard Medical School in 1956. He worked for the National Institutes of Health as a Commissioned Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service from July 1,1957 to December 31,1978. Following that, he worked for the American Red Cross until 1992. He then worked for the American Tissue Services of the American Red Cross until his retirement on October 31, 1995. Relatives and friends may call at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Church on Friday, December 29, 2017 followed by interment at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service, which will be held at the Chapel at Knollwood Retirement Community, 6200 Oregon Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20015 on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
