On Saturday, February 18, 2012, Emily Nelson of Silver Spring, MD, peacefully took her eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alphonso J. Nelson, Jr; mother, Willie R. Nickens; sisters, Elizabeth Nickens Johnson, Jeanne Nickens Travis and brother, Joseph Nickens. She is survived by children: Beverly Nelson Dawson and Anthony “Tony” J. Nelson; brother, Charles R. Nickens, Jr., brother-in-law, Charles Mandy; sisters-in-law, Juanita Mandy, Maria Mandy Gardener, Veronica Mandy and Edith Nickens; daughter-in-law, Marie Nelson; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dawson, Kourtney Dawson, Wesley Nelson and Michael Nelson; granddaughter-in-law, Quiana Dawson and great-grandchildren, Marcus Milroe and Chloe Dawson. She is also survived by two nieces, two nephews, and other relatives and friends. Service and interment were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in the name of Emma Nelson may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, #100, Rockville, MD 20850 or the American Cancer Society , P.O.
