AGNES M. NACHMAN

On Friday, March 26, 2010, of Wheaton, MD. Beloved wife of the late Philip Nachman; mother of Philip Nachman, Lynn (Joe) Feakes and Jean Henry; sister of Sr. Sylvia McClain, RSM and Stella Doyle; grandmother of Michael, Dawn, Shannon, Bill, Catherine and Robert. Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Her remarkable life spanned 95 years and revolved around her love of learning, travel, the arts, her faith and most of all her family. She inspired the lives of her children and grandchildren with her grace, independence and intellect. Agnes was born in Wilmerding, PA, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pittsburgh and received her Masters from Columbia. She re-entered the teaching profession and taught Mathematics at Springbrook High School. As the consummate educator, Agnes continued to serve others by volunteering at Meals on Wheels and Tax Aide. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Monday, March 29, 2010, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Viers Mill & Claridge Roads, Wheaton, MD, on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Wheaton, 10101 Connecticut Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895.
