CARL DuBOIS MURPHY (Age 81)

Passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 peacefully at his home in Derwood, MD. Born July 27, 1935 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late George D. Murphy and Corrine E. Murphy and husband of the late Helen Maureen Murphy (nee Cox); and brother of the late Norman Leroux, late Juanita Leroux (Fletcher), and late Gordon Leroux. Carl was a Sergeant in the Army and a Navy Civilian for 25 years and a member of the Olney Church of Christ. He was a former Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 68 of Brookeville, MD. He enjoyed family, music and model railroading. Survivors include his daughter WindyJoy Majumdar and husband Arun of Alexandria, VA and son C. DuBois Murphy, Jr. and wife Janice of Glenwood, MD; grandchildren George Murphy, Amelia Decker and husband Thomas, and Mary Murphy. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd West, Silver Spring, MD, on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a memorial service at 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Cox Family Cemetery in Meadow Bridge, WV at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Legion Post 68 Scholarship, P.O. Box 426, Olney, MD 20830.
