Eugenia Matheos (Age 91)

Eugenia Matheos of Kensington, Maryland passed away on December 11, 2018 at 91 years of age. Eugenia was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Gus Matheos, and is survived by her loving children, George Matheos (Stephanie) and Maria Waters (Mike, deceased), and grandchildren, Constantine “Costa” Matheos and Eugenia” Kat” Matheos, a sister, Despina Matheos residing in Athens, Greece, and many relatives from the Island of Chios, Greece where Eugenia was born. A younger sister, Mary Houmis of Norfolk, Virginia, preceded her in death. Eugenia and her husband ran the G & M Luncheonette on Hampden Lane in Bethesda, Maryland for over 20 years. Family and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd West, Silver Spring, on Sunday, December 16th, from 7 to 9 p.m. (Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m.) and at St. Sophia Cathedral at 36th and Mass. Avenue, NW on Monday, December 17th, from at 10 to 11 a.m.; where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th St. NW, Washington, DC 20007.
