Richard “Dick” of Rockville, MD died peacefully on a sunny day on September 8, 2016. He is remembered for his charismatic smile and wry sense of humor, for his kindness to strangers and deep affection for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clay and Bernice (Hogan) Leonard of Potomac, MD and his brothers, Jack, William and Robert. He served in the
US Navy from 1951-54. In 1954, he married Elizabeth Anne Fisher. They had three children, Richard, Jr., Jeanne and Michael. He worked as an Allstate Insurance agent for over 30 years. Dick loved the outdoors, travel, and gourmet cooking. He especially liked volunteer work, hosting parties, and helping his neighbors. He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. For those who knew Dick, the family requests that you consider performing a small act of kindness for a stranger or family member in his memory.
