MARTHA GAZELLA GREENLEAF

Of Silver Spring, Maryland passed peacefully on January 12, 2019.  Born July 4, 1921 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, she and her late twin brother, John, were the last surviving of Andrew and Mary Gazella’s thirteen children. A first generation American, she graduated from Marywood College as a Registered Dietician.  She followed the wave of workers into Washington, D.C. just after WWII and in time was hired by the National Canner’s Association, where she participated in one of the first televised cooking shows. Following the birth of her first child, she retired from television and created a loving home for her growing family. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, Elmer F. Greenleaf, her five children, Meg Greenleaf-Kocher, Bob, Beazy, Andy, and David Greenleaf, their spouses and twelve grandchildren. Contributions in her honor may be made to the charity of your choice.
