Died peacefully at her residence in Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 (All Saints Day). Beloved wife of the late Augustine Gentile; loving mother of five children, Joan, Thomas, Nancy, James and Michael, and their spouses; loving aunt to her late nephew, Thomas Burkitt, and many other nieces and nephews who are the children of her eight deceased siblings and her late husband’s sister; and loving grandmother of Nancy, Michael, David, John, Angela and William. Mary was a native Washingtonian and a proud graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy, Washington, DC, Class of 1942. Former resident of Ocean View, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hannah Leahy and Dennis O’Connell, of Mt. Collins in the Irish Free State.
