Peacefully departed this life on June 12, 2012, following surgery on June 3, 2012. Beloved wife of John M. Firmin of Takoma Park, MD. Mother to John (Jack) Firmin, of Greenbelt, MD, Joan Garcia (Arnald) of McCormick, SC, James Firmin (Linda) of Moss Point, MS, and Jeffrey Firmin (Frances) of Albany, NY. Nana to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Jean graduated from the former Business High School in Washington, D.C. in 1932. Jean’s career as Secretary and Executive Secretary spanned from 1938 to 1976. She retired from the Federal Trade Commission as Secretary to the Commissioner.  Growing up in Washington, DC she attended Kendall, Petworth, and Bethany Baptist Churches. She spent all her Adult years teaching Sunday School classes culminating with Fidelis Sunday School at Montgomery Hills Baptist Church, where she was a current member. Jean was married to her loving husband John for 75 years. They resided in Takoma Park, MD for 71 years.  A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at Montgomery Hills Baptist Church, 9727 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Hills Baptist Church.
