JOHN RAYMOND FERCHAK  (Age 86)

Of Silver Spring, MD, a retired Foreign Service Officer, passed away May 5, 2011 of heart and kidney disease complications. Beloved husband of the late Mildred Bowles Ferchak; loving father of Janet M. Hanlon (Dan); loving grandfather of Jessica D., Sara M. and Sheryl M. He served in the Army during World War II, graduated Georgetown University and joined the Foreign Service in 1952. He received the State Department’s Award for Heroism in 1964. After retiring, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, gardening and exploring life. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, May 8, 2 to 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Church, 917 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD on Tuesday, May 10 at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
