JUANITA ANN DiPIETRO
On August 18, we lost a beloved mother, Nana, cousin and friend; however, as we grieve our loss, we are happy that Nana is no longer suffering from any of the headaches and pain that had plagued her during the last year or so.
Even though Juanita was her given name, Nana was probably her favorite name of all. She loved being “Nana” to her 5 grandchildren, Chris & wife Nancy, Michael, Holly, Collin and Austin and their many friends as well as her 4 young great-grandchildren, Luke, Matthew, Michael and Cayden. Nana’s daughter, Connie and a baby Chris, lived with Nana and Pop while Connie’s husband was overseas and oh, did Nana and Pop love having their first grandchild live with them! Chris and Michael both were blessed with many years of love and laughter from Nana (and Pop)! And as a result, they have many funny and wonderful memories about Nana to share! Holly was (and still is) Nana’s first granddaughter and Nana was so excited to finally be able to buy little girl clothes! Holly was followed by brothers Collin and Austin and Nana loved to visit with her Virginia grandchildren either at their house and when they came to visit her!
Nana did not have a fancy college degree or a longtime job she retired from, but she had something even better: humor and love. Her longtime job was taking care of her husband, Vito (deceased 10/90) and children, Thomas and Connie. Over the years, countless other friends and children have also had the privilege of being cared for and loved by Nana.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but we are fortunate that we had Mom, Nana, Juanita for 85 years! Tears are to be expected and are a part of the grieving process, but the memories will stay with us forever and because of these warm and funny memories, the pain in our hearts from our loss can be lightened. Nana would rather be remembered with love and laughter than with tears.
The Lord’s Prayer was Nana’s favorite prayer and it is included below. As you read it, picture Nana sitting with the Lord in heaven, reunited with Pop and Mama Josie and sharing her precious memories with everyone!
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.
