
JEAN ELIZABETH DIEUX
Jean Elizabeth Dieux (nee Fritter), 87, of Rockville, passed away on December 25, Christmas Day, as a result of injuries sustained during a car accident on Christmas Eve. Jean was born in Washington, DC on April 24, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Fritter. In 1949 she married William J. Dieux; they were married for 52 years until his death from Alzheimer’s. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Her many activities included being a member of the Washington Numismatic Society, the Silver Spring Junior Women’s Club and the Montgomery County Garden Club, as well as serving as a UNICEF volunteer and block captain. Jean was a homemaker who worked part time at Arthur’s Dance Studio and at Raleigh’s Fine Clothing where both her mother and husband retired from. She lived most of her adult life in Rockville. Jean had a great love for life, and her greatest joy was her large family which included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her newly born great-great grandchildren. She also treasured the many friends that she had throughout her life. Jean was fortunate enough to be able to take care of her brother, husband, and mother before their deaths.
Jean is survived by her daughter Bonnie Wilkinson and husband Richard; son Ronald Dieux and wife Juli Powers; daughter Connie Horrocks and husband Jeff; her grandchildren Montessa Markham (Wilmer Turcios), Jennifer Dieux (Eric MacKay), Merrenda Markham, Kelly Dieux, Zeb Markham, Charlie Dieux (Charmaine Dieux); Whitney Dieux, Alex Dieux and Nicholas Dieux; great grandchildren, James MacKay (Erika MacKay), Dalonte Taylor, Craig MacKay, Destanie Taylor (Fredrick Monroe), Stephen MacKay, Cody Garrison, Amber Garrison, Noah Cooper, Charlie Dieux, Savannah Dieux, Greyson Cooper, Caleb Dieux; and great-great grandchildren Damani Monroe, Alice MacKay and Easyn MacKay. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Julie Dieux and husband Mike Bernhardt. Jean was preceded in death by her husband William in 2001 and her daughter Lonnie in 1962. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother Harold Fritter. The Funeral will be held on Monday, February 26 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD. Visitation is from 10:30 am to 11:00 am with a service immediately afterward. Following the funeral service, there will be a procession to Arlington National Cemetery for her burial at 1:00 pm.
