January 17 2020: DELFINO, Erik C.

Erik  C. Delfino

On January 10, 2020, Erick C. Delfino.  Erik’s career saw him as an integral part of the Library of Congress where his work allowed him to form long lasting and meaningful friendships with his colleagues however he was a man with a myriad of passions. His passions enabled him to spread his joy and abilities for the delight of others. He was an active Elder in the parish of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Silver Spring. He was an integral part of the National Railway Historical Society, (Washington DC Chapter). His talents took him through artistically inspirational experiences many times in collaboration with The Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at George Washington University resulting in numerous works of book art. His photography talents also resulted in the publication of books recalling the Worlld’s Fair in New York and the Raritan Valley Train line in New Jersey where we grew up. His never ending thirst to accomplish more and more resulted in his speech improvement with his Aphasia condition thanks to the Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital where he, along with his fellow Aphasia group members, were able to create what is now known as the “Aphasia Tunes Choir”. This has given joy and satisfaction not only to its members but also all those who have had the immense pleasure of hearing and understanding the strength of music and its healing power. The spirit to persevere with life’s challenges that belonged to Erik Delfino, should act as an example to us all.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, MD at 10 am on Friday January 17, 2020.
