March 5 2015: DARVICH, Charlotte A.

CHARLOTTE A. DARVICH
(nee Dunaway)

Charlotte A. (nee Dunaway) Darvich, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was known for her positive spirit, finding the best in every person and happiness in every situation. She was born in Hollywood but raised in the Washington area, graduating from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1960. One of her proudest accomplishments was graduating from the Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing (formerly part of Sibley Hospital) in 1964, which started her life-long passion for nursing. She was known for her compassion and skills as a nurse, serving in the maternity ward, ER and operating rooms in hospitals across the country, including McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, and most recently Holy Cross Hospital and Anne Arundel Medical Center in Maryland. Charlotte was also a quiet adventurer, who travelled around the world and was adopted by her husband’s country of Iran as a kindred spirit. She was also proud of her Swedish heritage. She loved the ocean, animals and the color blue. She is survived by her husband and friend Djamchid, son Khashyar, daughter Ketayoun, son-in-law Joe Albrecht, and granddaughter Soraya Albrecht. Visiting hours will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, March 7, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., where funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Her family will be wearing the color blue in her memory on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to SPCA of Anne Arundel County at 1815 Bay Ridge Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403.
