Walter “Ed” Daniell

Walter “Ed” Daniell was born on August 11, 1940, to Beryl Veronica and Walter Edward Daniell Sr. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the oldest of 12 siblings growing up in Arlington, Massachusetts. At age 18, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for three years. While in D.C., he met his wife of 58 years, Margaret “Judy” Daniell. Together, residing in Maryland, they had four children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild with one on the way. He had a very long and successful career at IBM and later Lockheed Martin working on programs such as the air traffic control system and GPS satellite space programs that are still used today. Our “Poppa” became an avid golfer and loved the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Maryland Terrapins.

On Thursday, January 16, 2020, he passed away at his home in Rockville, MD surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Margaret Daniell; loving father of Susan (Mike) O’Connor, Christopher Daniell and Karen (Virgil) Hobbs and the late James (Kae) Daniell;   Grandfather of Robin Daniell Bridge, Maggie O’Connor, Amberly Daniell, Jacob Hobbs, Chase Hobbs, Kuen Deeprachakorn, Kanghan Deeprachakorn, Ainum Deeprachakorn, Caitlyn O’Connor and the late Kelley O’Connor;  Great-Grandfather to Londyn Dior and Bentley James (expected in February). Also survived by many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, 20901 (Valet Parking) Monday, January 20, 2020, from 12  to 1 PM, where Funeral Service will begin at 1 PM.  Interment Parklawn Memorial Park, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Hospice Home Care. Following the service, the family will have a celebration of life from 2:30-6:30 at The Elks Club 5, Taft Ct. Rockville, MD 20850.
