Mary Wiener Crawford (Age 79)

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, of Rockville, MD.  Beloved wife of the late Donald J. Crawford; mother of Robert B. (Mark C. Nielsen) and Brian C. (Sarah) Crawford; grandmother of John “Jack”, Sophia, Delaney, and Finnegan; twin sister of Anne Snyder and sister of the late Ted Wiener; sister-in-law of Ed Snyder and Sally Wiener.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and raised in Kingston, PA, Mary graduated from Marywood College in Scranton in 1961.   Upon graduation, she moved to the Washington, DC area where she taught elementary school before marrying Don.  After their wedding the couple moved to White Plains, NY where Mary continued to teach until the birth of their boys before relocating back to Rockville, MD. After raising her sons, she worked at the National Institutes of Health until her retirement in 2004. . Mary was a longtime resident of Fallsmead, where she enjoyed playing bridge with her neighborhood club.  She was also a parishioner of St. Raphael’s Parish where she volunteered for many years, and a loyal supporter of Gonzaga College High School.  Mary was famous for her “meals on wheels” which provided comfort and nourishment for friends and family during difficult times and proudly considered herself a “professional volunteer.”

Relatives and friends may call at St. Raphael’s Church, 1513 Dunster Road (at Falls Road), Rockville, MD, on Monday, October 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
