We celebrate the memory and mourn the loss of Michael D. Cox who passed at the age of 68 on Monday, December 3, 2018 from complications of multiple myeloma. Cox was an exacting Facilities Manager Contractor for the U.S. Coast Guard who retired after over 20 years with Navy Federal Credit Union. He took immense pride in his job and his historic home in Silver Spring, Maryland. Mike, who grew up in the Chicago area, was preceded in death by his father, Duane Cox, and mother, Collette Cox, who passed only last July. He is mourned by his 38 year partner and husband, Jim Thompson and his extended family, sister, Susan Fletcher from Marion, Iowa, her husband, Michael Fletcher and their two children, Matthew Fletcher and Elizabeth McDougal, California cousins, Bradley, Michael, and Barbara Zaller, as well as great-nephew, Cameron Zaller, and Maryland godchildren, Colleen and Lindsay Kaufman. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at Francis J.
