ELSIE MOORE CLARK  

Elsie Moore Clark, 90, of Rockville, MD, passed away at Holy Cross Hospital on July 23, 2018. Elsie was born in Washington, D.C. on January 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Elbert L. Moore and late Annie Moore (nee Ferguson). During most of her career, Elsie was a computer specialist at the National Institute of Science and Technology (formerly the National Bureau of Standards), where she wrote mathematical software instrumental in the control of robots. Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Howard James Clark, from whom she was divorced. She is also preceded in death by five siblings: Florence M. Greene, Harvey M. Moore, Edith A. Hedges, Dorothy L. Moore, and Elbert L. Moore Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Clark, of Silver Spring, Maryland, and her son, James Howard Clark, of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Sarah Mitchell, Ethan Ware Clark, and James Thomas Clark and three great grandchildren: Piper Mitchell, Dax Mitchell, and Phoebe Mitchell. The funeral service will be held at Francis J Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. W in Silver Spring, MD on Tuesday, July 31 at 11 a.m. Interment immediately following the service will be at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd. in Rockville, MD. A memorial reception celebrating Elsie’s life will follow at: 2909 Kingswell Dr. in Silver Spring, MD.
