JAMES J. CHUMAS (Age 91)

On Monday, March 11, 2013, of Sandy Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Mary C. Chumas; father of John J. Chumas (Rosemarie) of Brookeville, MD and Georgia J. Diersing (Victor) of Manassas, VA; grandfather of James, Kathleen, Gregory, James and Michael; brother of Eva Collis and Sophie Chumas. Also survived by three great-grandchildren. Mr. Chumas was born in Washington, DC and was a life-long resident of the metropolitan area. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps, European Theatre. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (Prayers at 7:30 p.m.) Funeral Service at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36th St. & Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20007, on Thursday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brooke Grove Foundation, 18100 Slade School Road, Sandy Spring, MD 20860, or to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
