Molly Shih-Ping Chen passed away on August 1, 2017 in Silver Spring, MD at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 2014. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Vincent Chen and Clement Chen; their spouses, Kim and Ann, and five grandchildren; sister, Terry and brother, John. Molly was born in China and fled with her family to Taiwan during the Communist Revolution in the late 1940’s. She came to the United States in 1959 under the sponsorship of the Daughters of Charity to work on her post graduate nursing degree at the University of Texas. She eventually became a registered nurse (RN) and embarked on a 30 year career as a nurse manager at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC. Over the years she trained countless healthcare providers in the art and science of nursing. She is remembered for her fierce loyalty and love of family and friends and her care and concern for others. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, August 5 from 10:30 to 11 a.m, with remembrances to be shared at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
