Sabrina Deena Cammett
August 3, 2004 – October 7, 2016
Sabrina Deena Cammett,12, passed away peacefully at home in Bethesda, Maryland on October 7, 2016 following a nine year battle with Neuroblastoma. A graveside service and burial will be at noon on Friday October 14, 2016 at Rockville Cemetery, Rockville, Maryland.
Sabrina was born on August 3, 2004 in Brcko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the daughter of Dinka and William Cammett (formerly of Penn Yan).
Her older brother Danis saw himself as her protector from the moment she arrived home from the hospital, a role he embraced through Sabrina’s many years of treatment.
She lived the first nine years of her life in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina before moving to the U.S. Sabrina exhibited limitless passion for dance and singing and she especially enjoyed singing songs from her favorite artists, Arianna Grande and Meghan Trainor. Watching “The Voice” with Mom was a highlight and Sabrina always said after she beat cancer she would win that show, become a world famous singer, and purchase a vineyard in Tuscany for her and Mom to transform into a luxury Spa resort. The crafts side of her enjoyed using duct tape as a canvas to create everything from pencil holders, wallets and phone cases to tool belts and sandals. She was also passionate about nail art, creating new designs for each holiday, change of season or just because. Sabrina was an optimist and led by example. She never let cancer take away her positive energy, which she radiated to all those whose lives she touched.
Sabrina is survived by her mother Dinka Mujagic-Cammett, father William and brother Danis as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins both in Bosnia and America.
Transitioning from hope for Sabrina’s future to harvesting memories, from caring to grief, from shaping her future to saying farewell is a journey no parent or sibling should have to endure. In light of this the Cammett family requests that instead of flowers, people make donations in Sabrina’s name to one or more of the following organizations, all of which provide incalculable support for families dealing with pediatric cancer:
