November 16 2018: BENNETT, Kaye Allena

Kaye Allena Bennett

November 12, 2018, of San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 82 years.  Kaye was born September 17, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, to the late Kathryn Cary Parsons and Lawren Charles Parsons.  Devoted wife of Dr. Raymond Spencer Bennett, Jr.; loving mother of Karen Bennett Harmon, Dr. Carolyn Bennett Hendricks (Steve), Susan Louise Bennett, Kathryn Bennett Allen (Keith), Dr. Sharon Ann Bennett, and the late Carla Jean Bennett; and cherished grandmother of Christopher Michael Hendricks, Brittany Kathryn Allen, Leslie Rene Hendricks, Shannon Harmon Gier (Rodrigo), Jamie Carla Allen, Benjamin Keith Allen, and the late Lauren Marie Harmon.  Kaye will also be forever remembered by nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Following her retirement from the Northside Independent School District, Kaye treasured the Mondays when she volunteered at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center.  She was a member of the San Antonio Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and an Archousa of Gamma Phi of the Sigma Pi Phi Boule.  Aside from her civic commitments, Kaye loved her dogs, most recently her dear Barney, and always saw to it that they received VIP care.  She was admired and respected by her friends and supported them in all of their activities.  Her favorite times of the year were summers when she and Ray were joined by their children and grandchildren on Martha’s Vineyard.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, on December 15, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the San Antonio Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
