ESTELLE ACHSTETTER (Age 93)

On Friday, November 21, 2014, Mary Catherine Estelle Achstetter of Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD. She was born in Washington, DC on December 17, 1920, the daughter of Eva Teresa Fowler and John H. Zabel. She was the widow of Christian John Achstetter, an attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, who died in 2006. She is survived by her son Christopher Joseph Achstetter; by sisters-in-law Louise T. Zabel, Frances J. Scherer, and Rita T. Coffman. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Estelle served proudly in the United States Coast Guard as a Yeoman First Class during World War II and was awarded the American and Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medals and the World War II Victory Medal. Relatives and friends may call at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD, Tuesday, November 25, at 10 a.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road, NE, Washington, DC 20017.
