MARINA LOAIZA ALLEN (Age 74)

On Friday, April 5, 2019 of Silver Spring, MD.  Beloved wife of 43 years of Richard K. Allen, cherished mother of Brian D. Allen (Hadley) of Greenwich, CT, devoted grandmother of Bridger D. Allen and Benjamin A. Allen of Greenwich, CT.  She is also survived by two sisters, Maria Aurora Loaiza of Medellin, Colombia and Maria Elvia Loaiza de Quiros of Miami, FL.  Marina was born on April 24, 1944 in El Balso, Colombia.  She came to the United States in 1970.  Marina was the owner of Montgomery Maids, a house cleaning company that she started in 1989.  Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West (corner of Dennis Avenue), Silver Spring, MD 20901, (Valet Parking), Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial at Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20853, on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.  After the brief burial service, a catered reception will be held in the Thaddeus Room at the Shrine of St. Jude.

LAMB, Carl H.

CARL HENRY LAMB (Age 84)

Of Hagerstown Maryland passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Lamb; Brother of Myrtle Beall, father of Barbara J. Lavely along with boyfriend James Snider of Hagerstown, Maryland, and long-time son-in-law of 23 years, Jeffrey L. Lavely of Falling Waters, West Virginia.

He was the grandfather of 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his mother Alese Lamb Beagle, his father Robert E. Lamb and step-father Walter Beagle, along with four brothers and four sisters, two daughters; Patricia A. Lamb, Kathy S. Lavely and son Carl J. Lamb, as well as Grandson Michael Lavely. Carl is also predeceased by his long-time companion Mary Guice.

He will also be missed by Tammy and Donnie Hobbs and Fred Guice. Carl served in the Korean War for the United States Navy for four years. He enjoyed many sports and hunting activites. Carl also enjoyed all of his family and reading the bible.

GILLESPIE, Marilyn Bostwick

Marilyn Bostwick Gillespie (Age 81)

Marilyn Bostwick Gillespie, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 4, 2019 at Potomac Valley Nursing and Wellness Center, Rockville, MD, surrounded by family. She was born August 30, 1937 in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Elva B. and Robert G. Bostwick. She graduated from the prestigious Rosarian Academy in 1955.  She met James Pittard Gillespie at Florida State, her previous professor.  They married on August 28, 1957, in West Palm Beach, Florida, and remained completely devoted to each other until his death in 2017.  She was a 1960 graduate of the University of Delaware and completed her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Marshall University in 1973.  Her varied career included special education teacher, publishing editor at a major printing company, advertising specialty sales rep, and a tour guide at history museums in Baltimore and Frederick.  She was very active in many community, singing, and church groups. Marilyn was a devoted grandmother, educator, animal lover, and avid history buff, especially early American.  She instilled in her children a passion for nature, creativity, travel, and helping others. Her intelligence, quick wit, beautiful singing voice, strong spirit, natural curiosity, and generous nature will be greatly missed.  She is survived by three children (Laine, Craig, Alison), two grandchildren (Sam and Grace Briglia), and her beloved dog Melody. Memorial service to be held this Sunday, April 14 in the Ground Floor Living Room/ Library at Bedford Court, 3701 International Dr., Silver Spring, MD, 20906 at 1:00 pm. DIANNE MARIE JAMES
Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2019 with her loving husband by her side. She was born March 1, 1948 in The District of Columbia to Domenick, Jr. and Kathleen Panzone. In 1968 she wed Ford E. James, Jr. and remained married for 51 years. Together they raised two sons, Douglas (Cari) and Jeffrey (Colby). Dianne was a wonderful grandmother to four grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Abigail, and Evelyn. Dianne is survived by sisters Linda and Joanne (Brad), many nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and many friends. Dianne invested her heart and soul into her family, always considering others before herself. Visitation will be held Sunday April 7, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD 20901 (Valet Parking). MILBREY HARTZ
Milbrey Hartz of Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD, passed from pneumonia at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital on March 25, 2019 at 96 years of age. Mrs. Hartz was born in Indianola, Mississippi on August 14, 1922. Millie, to her friends and family, was a resident of Leisure World since 2004 having previously resided in Dunedin, FL since 1972 and Bethesda, MD before that. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Francis J. (Dutch) Hartz, in 1987. She is survived by her son, Reverend Norman R. Hartz, of Emmitsburg, MD., stepson, CDR James Hartz USN (Ret.) of Virginia Beach, VA, as well as granddaughters, Holly Hartz of Los Angeles CA, Marianne Harrison and Jennifer Stevens of Pinole and San Leandro, CA and grandsons, Douglas Hartz of Chambersburg, PA, LCDR Stephen Hartz of Alexandria, VA and Michael Hartz of Charlotte, NC and their spouses and children. Mrs. Hartz was a Life Master Bridge instructor and competitive player winning many duplicate bridge awards at both the international and national level for nearly 50 years. She retired from the City of Dunedin, FL Parks and Recreation in early 2000 as the bridge instructor. She was an avid reader: seeking out the best new fiction from the Washington Post’s top 10 list published each Sunday. Known as “GG’ — for great grandmother — by her family, Millie will be sorely missed. Private services and interment in Palm Harbor, FL.

Maritza Ramos Olivares, age 62, became an angel on March 30, 2019. Maritza was born on November 14, 1956 in Santiago, Chile.  She is the beloved sister of Magaly, Juan, and Boris Ramos Olivares; sister-in-law of Hernan Munoz and Lilly Araya.  Maritza will be deeply missed by her nephews Ignacio, Felipe, and Ricardo Munoz Ramos and also by Cristobal Ramos Araya.  She also leaves behind her Aunt Marta Olivares and Uncle Miguel Ducos and many friends from both Chile and the U.S.  Maritza loved every child who was in her life.
