JEAN ELIZABETH DIEUX
Jean Elizabeth Dieux (nee Fritter), 87, of Rockville, passed away on December 25, Christmas Day, as a result of injuries sustained during a car accident on Christmas Eve. Jean was born in Washington, DC on April 24, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Fritter. In 1949 she married William J. Dieux; they were married for 52 years until his death from Alzheimer’s. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Her many activities included being a member of the Washington Numismatic Society, the Silver Spring Junior Women’s Club and the Montgomery County Garden Club, as well as serving as a UNICEF volunteer and block captain. Jean was a homemaker who worked part time at Arthur’s Dance Studio and at Raleigh’s Fine Clothing where both her mother and husband retired from. She lived most of her adult life in Rockville. Jean had a great love for life, and her greatest joy was her large family which included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her newly born great-great grandchildren. She also treasured the many friends that she had throughout her life. Jean was fortunate enough to be able to take care of her brother, husband, and mother before their deaths.
Jean is survived by her daughter Bonnie Wilkinson and husband Richard; son Ronald Dieux and wife Juli Powers; daughter Connie Horrocks and husband Jeff; her grandchildren Montessa Markham (Wilmer Turcios), Jennifer Dieux (Eric MacKay), Merrenda Markham, Kelly Dieux, Zeb Markham, Charlie Dieux (Charmaine Dieux); Whitney Dieux, Alex Dieux and Nicholas Dieux; great grandchildren, James MacKay (Erika MacKay), Dalonte Taylor, Craig MacKay, Destanie Taylor (Fredrick Monroe), Stephen MacKay, Cody Garrison, Amber Garrison, Noah Cooper, Charlie Dieux, Savannah Dieux, Greyson Cooper, Caleb Dieux; and great-great grandchildren Damani Monroe, Alice MacKay and Easyn MacKay. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Julie Dieux and husband Mike Bernhardt. Jean was preceded in death by her husband William in 2001 and her daughter Lonnie in 1962. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brother Harold Fritter. The Funeral will be held on Monday, February 26 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD. Visitation is from 10:30 am to 11:00 am with a service immediately afterward. Following the funeral service, there will be a procession to Arlington National Cemetery for her burial at 1:00 pm. Michael Robert Silverman, age 40, of Pikesville, MD, formerly of Myersville, MD, passed unexpectedly on Friday, February 16, 2018. He was the beloved father of Teylor Silverman; son of Paul and Darlene Silverman; brother of Daniel Daly, Sean (Misty) Daly, Jennifer (Del) Hoyt, and Kristie (James) Amend; nieces and nephews, Emily and Daniel Daly; Sean Daly; Catherine, Lily, William, Madison, and Ellery Hoyt; Aidan, Colby, Wesley, and Nicholas Amend; grandson to the late William and Catherine Wagener and the late Harry and Anne Silverman; nephew to Charles and Diane Wagener, Alan and Holly Silverman, and the late Anna DeRosa; special family Moira and Brian Gorman, Kiera, Jace, Eliana, and Judah Gorman; Tracy and Charles Smith, Brittany Ross, Curtis Pettaway, and the late Ginger Smith. And remembered by so many other family and friends who knew and loved him dearly. He was an amazing athlete, father, brother, son, grandson and friend to all. His greatest accomplishment and source of immense pride was his son and best friend, Teylor. He brought us all so much joy through his playful spirit. Michael always saw the best in everyone. He loved basketball and coached and inspired many youth over the years. Jorge Lope Alcoba (Age 91)
On Thursday, February 15, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Lydia Alcoba ; father of John (Elizabeth Carole) Alcoba, Mabel (Jeremy) Harris, Marcelo (Jocey) Alcoba and the late Javier (Nereida) Alcoba; grandfather of Sean, Jason, Christine, Katherine, Aaron, Mikhail, Roy, Melissa, Alberto, Jorge, Emily, Michael, Casey; great-grandfather of James, Claire, Ethan, Alex, Lisa, Freedom, Marcus, Angieliz, Yailyn, and Yocelyn. He is remembered for his courage, perseverance, intelligence, sense of humor, but above all, for the love and dedication to his wife, Lydia, and his children. I. John “Tex” Ritterpusch (Age 92)
On Monday, February 19, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Jaclyn A. Ritterpusch; father of Susan, Beth, Julie (Chris) Krahling, John (the late Lynn Roeder), Marie (John) Best, Steven (Edie), Faith Bunt, and Jean (the late Larry) Mack; brother of I. Earl Ritterpusch of Smithfield, NC. Also survived by fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born in Baltimore, MD in 1926, John graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 as a Sergeant, a B-29 Bomber Air Crew Gunner in the Pacific Theater. He received a BA from the University of Maryland in 1950 and a J.D. Degree in 1953 from George Washington University. John was a member of the Bar in Maryland and the District of Columbia with an emphasis in real estate, probate and trade association law. He was appointed to serve on the Maryland Court of Appeals Attorney Grievance Commission, as well as numerous other legal and civic associations. On Thursday, February 8, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Daughter of Kathleen (nee Knight) and William (deceased). Beloved sister of the late Agathan, Eugena, Kenneth, Icilda, Edgerton (Mendez), Mildred, Florence, Jefferson (Jeff), Bresima, Cuthbert, and Seymour (Jack). Survived by sister, Carmelita (Connie), brothers Durrant (Barry), Abraham, Leroy (Delroy) and Sigismond, many dear friends, nieces, nephews and godchildren in numerous countries, including Canada, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Helen Monica Orzel
Helen was born on July 4, 1925 in Erie, PA the daughter of Casper and Adela Orzel. She died on February 14, 2018 in Silver Spring, MD. Helen graduated from St. Stanislaus Elementary, St. Benedict Academy and the Benedictine College (Mount St. Scholastic) in Atchison, Kansas.
She began her 40 year career in travel as a stewardess for American Airlines then as a Travel Agent for Ask Mr. Foster Travel Services in Hollywood, CA., packaging and directing domestic tours and Super Bowl events. With the Carlson Travel group, Helen traveled extensively internationally as a guide for company sponsored tours. She retired from Carlson as Manager of Wholesale Travel Operations.
Helen was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching and following her favorite events. She enjoyed playing golf, making a hole-in-one witnessed by her two astonished golfing partners.
Helen had a life long commitment to her catholic faith. She had a special devotion to the rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. In the course of her travels she made a point to visit many of the catholic shrines in Europe. She and her sister Betty were fortunate to attend a mass celebrated by Padre Pio. She was also a volunteer in the UCLA Health System serving as Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Helen relocated from Culver City, Ca. to her family home in Erie, PA to be with her sisters. They enjoyed life as snowbirds spending the winter months in the Florida Keys. Health concerns necessitated a recent move to Silver Spring, MD.
Helen was preceded in death by her sisters Frances (Orzel) Sullivan and Elizabeth “Betty” Orzel. Survivors include her sisters Genevieve (Orzel) Desmarais (George) of Salisbury, MD and Rita Orzel of Erie, PA, nieces Beatrice (Desmarais) Lowe (David) of Salisbury, MD, Allis Sullivan Guay (Bernard) of Hyattsville, MD, Mary (Desmarais) Bork (Rich) of Wyoming, DE, Carol (Desmarais) Miller (Bob) of Chantilly, VA, nephews Dave Desmarais (Kathy) of Clinton MD, Carl Desmarais (Christina) of Vienna, VA and Philip Desmarais (Patricia) of LaPLata, MD. Helen is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Riderwood Chapel in Silver Spring, MD. Helen will be interred in a private ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in Erie, Pa.
