Joseph Francis Hooban, Jr. (Age 78)

RUTH LAUFFENBERGER HARPER

Ruth Lauffenberger Harper of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on December 29, 2015 at age 85. She was the beloved wife of the late Grafton Harper; sister of Angelina Boaz of California; and aunt of Tia Phillips of New Hampshire. She grew up in Carteret, New Jersey, lived in Australia for nine years, and spent the rest of her life in Washington, DC, and Silver Spring, MD. Ruth traveled extensively, most recently to Istanbul, Turkey. She was very outgoing-there was never a stranger in her life. She was an excellent seamstress, a member of Curves for several years, and a devoted Sunday volunteer at Brookside Gardens. Graveside services and interment at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium will take place at a later date. FBI AGENT

On Wednesday, January 6, 2016, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Lillian Harriett Gallagher; loving father of Michael (Susan) of Vienna VA, Sharon Gallagher, Maureen Gallagher, Peggy DeLauder (Journey) and Tara Pinkler (David) of Ellicott City, MD. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Native of Ashland, PA, Bill was a graduate of George Washington University, served in Army Counter Intelligence during the Korean War and was an investigator with Office of Naval Intelligence before becoming an FBI agent. He retired in 1980. ELIZABETH RAIFORD TURNER (Age 87)

Elizabeth Raiford Turner went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2016. ”Libby” was born March 13, 1928 in Victoria, Virginia to George Hunter and Mary Beaton Raiford. A 1950 graduate of Randolph-Macon Women”s College and a teacher and homemaker in the Washington, DC area for many years, she loved flowers, birds, handicrafts, and playing the piano. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was preceded in death by David M. Turner, Jr., her husband of 42 years, and her beloved granddaughter, Michelle Stanton Turner. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen B. Turner and son-in-law, Robert L. Peskin of Bethesda, Maryland; her son, David R. Turner and daughter-in-law, Kristy K. Turner; and grandsons, Austin and James Turner of San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 12, 2016, at Francis J. Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD at 10 a.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer”s Association.

Marian Marie Lloyd (Age 82)

On Thursday, January 7, 2016, of Westminster, MD. Beloved wife of the late William F. Lloyd; mother of Ronald Bledsoe and his wife, Marianna; grandmother of Christopher Lee and Allison Marie Bledsoe; sister of Scarlett Bean and her husband, Garnet. Also survived by two nephews and their wives, three great-nephews and one great-niece.
