He was a brilliant man who loved his children and grandchildren a great deal. He was a lifelong scientist and lover of nature and animals, amateur entomologist, and purveyor of bad jokes. He was kind and generous, stubborn and intellectually gifted; he taught his children and grandchildren to think critically and find beauty in the everyday. He will be missed and remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Montgomery Parks Foundation.
