GUAY, Raymond J.

RAYMOND J. GUAY

Ray passed away April 7, 2014, devoted husband of the late Regina Hurley Guay. Born April 12, 1921 in Fall River, MA, son of Thomas and Elise. After graduating from Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River in 1939, Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945 as an artillery sergeant. He graduated from Catholic University in 1951 with a degree in physics.

Ray started his post-war career as a project engineer with the Naval Ordinance Laboratory developing underwater ordinance guidance systems and later becoming a Deputy Director with the office responsible for the Subroc, Polaris and Trident guided missile programs. He retired in 1981 from the Navy’s Strategic Systems Project Office.

A member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Ray served on the boards of Garrett Park Pool and Swim Team, Izaak Walton League, and Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, DE. Also an active member in the Knights of Columbus, Rock Creek Council, helped senior citizens prepare their tax returns, and a constant volunteer for a variety of community groups.

Survivors include sister, Patricia Turgeon; and children, Thomas A. Guay, Margaret M. Sullivan, Maryrita E. Dunlavey, Moira K. Abernethy, Regina A. Gretschel, Patricia C. Berry and J. Gary Guay. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Of Bethesda, MD, formerly of Fort Washington, PA and Yardley, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. Beloved daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Lukacs; sister of Dr. Susan Lukacs and Carol Miller (Larry); aunt of Andrew (Jen) and Bryan Miller; niece of Frank Pletyak. Also survived by other loving family and friends. Linda was a graduate of Juniata College and was a Scientist with Merck from which she retired. She loved to travel and be with family and friends. Her radiant smile will be missed. On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, Angie passed away peacefully at her home. She was born in Washington, DC, and was a long time resident of Silver Spring, MD. She was the loving and proud aunt of several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Dominick and Rose Panzone, and her brothers, John and Vincent. She is also survived by many cousins and numerous dear friends. Proud of her Italian heritage, she was a past vice-president of the Italian Social and Cultural Club of Leisure World and a member of the Roma Lodge, Washington, DC. “J.T.”
J.T. passed away peacefully with his wife of 44 years, Donna, at his side. He had received treatment for four months for a brain tumor. Raised in Bartlesville, OK, J.T. was the son of James L. Holt, Rancher and Sheriff of Washington Co. OK, and Martha Crawford Holt. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Dr. Mary Dee Holt. J.T. is survived by his wife, Donna J. Holt and his daughter, Allison Holt Ambrogi (Stefano), granddaughter, Liana, 8 and grandson Oliver, 4, of London, England.
J.T. attended the University of Oklahoma and received his MBA from UCLA. He served in the Army as an instructor at Ft. Belvoir. After leaving the army, J.T. followed his adventurous spirit by travelling around the world. He began his professional career analyzing military problems. He worked for the Center for Naval Analysis, CACI and the Office of Management and Budget in the National Security Division. He worked for the U.S. Air Force Studies and Analysis Division. In 1994, he accepted a position in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, working in the Program of Analysis and Evaluation. He retired in 2004. He followed local politics and wrote letters on various topics to local elected leaders. He served for over 30 years on the board of the local home owners association. J.T. and his family enjoyed travel. They bought a home in Marbella, Spain in 1975. After their daughter moved to London, they made the city their second home. J.T. enjoyed building stone paths and walls in his garden. He researched a variety of subjects including family history, climate, DNA, and Earth history.
