MIKEL ANN FLANNERY (Age 73)
Wife, mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer, musician, golfer, and real estate agent extraordinaire – passed away on August 1, 2011, at her home in Olney, MD, of complications from cancer (Pseudomyxoma Peritonei).
Mikel will be remembered by her friends and family for her outgoing and positive nature. She was a fitness enthusiast excelling at any activity she set her mind on and could often be found cheering on grandchildren at their sporting events. Throughout her life she dabbled in music, playing the piano, guitar, and later in life was a skilled ukulele player. She was an avid reader and a gourmet cook, with a passion for enjoying life to the fullest.
Mikel Ann was a native of Palo Alto, CA, and a 1960 graduate of the University of California Los Angeles. She entered real estate in 1982 working primarily out of the Olney, MD Long and Foster office and representing clients throughout Montgomery County. She was a member of the Women’s Board of Montgomery General Hospital and the Howard County Community College Ukulele Orchestra, and also volunteered her time in the community.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Lyle Jensen, of St. Helena, CA; her six children, Patrick, Kady, Jim, Peter, Molly, and Kerryanne; son-in-law, Pablo Perillan; daughters-in-law, Angie and Kathy; step-children, Karen and Kurt; 12 grandchildren, and her brother, Peter Edelen. Her children and husband cared for her and were with her in her final days at home. Her first husband of 22 years, E. Patrick Flannery, MD, died in 1984.
Relatives and friends may call at Holy Cross Church, 4900 Strathmore Ave., Garrett Park, MD on Friday, August 5, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon where Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon. Interment private.
