TRINGALE, Brianna Mar

BRIANNA MARIE TRINGALE

Brianna Marie Tringale, 34, of Washington DC, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Ave., Kensington, MD. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall. There will be a private interment at a later date. Brianna was born on September 17, 1984, in Pascagoula, MS. She graduated from Pascagoula High School and then attended The University of Mississippi, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and studied abroad in China. After graduating from Ole Miss, she attended Georgetown University and received a master’s degree in Security Studies. Brianna is survived by her loving husband, Chris; her parents, Jeff and Darlene Phillips of Pascagoula MS; and her brother, Dr. Brandon Phillips of Birmingham, Al. She is also survived by her Tringale family that she treasured: father and mother-in-law, Steve and Peggy Tringale of Reading, MA, and brothers-in-law, Andy and Steve (Ashley) Tringale also of Reading, MA, and Nana, Mary Tringale, of Saugus, MA. She will be missed by uncles, aunts, cousins and her very special Godparents, Roy and Wilda Cain of Pascagoula, Ms, along with many friends and her dearest friend, Kristen Sparks of Oxford, MS and her dog Nomar. As an expression of sympathy, and in dedication to Brianna’s devotion to animal rescue, donations can be made to Lucky Dog and The House Rabbit Society.

WILLIAM J. BARTON, Jr.

May 16, 1921 – March 9, 2019 (Age 97)

William Barton died peacefully at his home in Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, March 9, 2019. He joined his beloved wife, the late Elizabeth Anne Barton.

Bill was known for his kindness, simple goodness and wonderfully dry sense of humor. He was a decent good man his entire life, always smiling and eager to help others. He was the spouse, father and grandfather everyone would have loved to have had.

Bill was born and raised in upstate New York. From September 1942 until February 1946, he served in World War II in the 15th Calvary (Army), rising to the rank of staff sergeant. After the war, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Government degree from George Washington University (Nov 1948). He met his wife, Betty Anne, at work in 1953. They were engaged August 1954 and married on October 22, 1954 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Arlington VA.

Bill and Betty were blessed with 62 years of marriage in which they raised their family, enjoyed time with wonderful neighbors and friends and yearly vacations to the beautiful state of Maine and other parts of New England. In retirement, Bill and Betty enjoyed playing golf, bridge and being wonderful grandparents. Bill continued to serve others as a volunteer at his church, the Smithsonian and offering tax preparation assistance.

He is survived by his three children Paul Barton (Cathy), Susan Burket (Thomas) and Joan Gambogi (Robert); six grandchildren Michelle Whicher (Ryan), Allison Burket, Jonathan Burket, Craig Gambogi, Julia Gambogi and Leslie Barton; and one great-granddaughter Lucy Whicher.

Friends called at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, Friday, March 15, from 7 to 9 p.m.  A Memorial Mass was held at Church of the Resurrection, 3315 Greencastle Road, Burtonsville, on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m.
Private inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Born on July 20,1943 in the Netherlands; moved to America (College Park, MD) in 1963, married Ronald Pedone in 1965, and had two children, Michelangelo and Bettina. Earned a BS – Mathematics in 1973 and a PhD – Economics in 1984, both from the University of Maryland. Economist at Urban Systems Research & Engineering 1978-1984 and the Congressional Budget Office 1984-2000. At Medstar Montgomery Medical Center after a brave battle with bladder cancer. Survived by loving wife of 32 years, the former Melba Jeter, sons Eric (Thys) and Kirk (Duke). He is also survived by a sister, Sandy Jousma and brother, Craig Piersma, both of Holland, Michigan. He will be mourned by members of the Hughes United Methodist Church community and a host of extended relatives, caring neighbors, former colleagues, and friends. Family will receive mourners at 9:30 a.m. at Hughes United Methodist Church, 10700 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. With a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
