DIANE MELANIE DAVIS GERBER
Diane M. Davis Gerber, age 62, died unexpectedly on December 5, 2018 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. A third generation Washingtonian, she is survived by her loving and devoted husband Christopher D. Gerber; five siblings, Dorothy A. Davis, James A. Davis, III (Patty), Gregory P. Davis (Kelli), Margaret E. Davis, and Michael T. Davis (Devon). She also leaves her mother-in-law Jeanne M. Gerber, sister-in-law Lynn J. Davis (Peter), and brother-in-law Michael J. Gerber (Melanie). She was predeceased by her sister Deborah Davis; her father James A. Davis, her brother Kenneth M. Davis, and her mother Margaret H. Davis. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.
She attended Blessed Sacrament School, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, University of Oregon, and The George Washington University. She worked over 34 years as an Environmental Protection Specialist for EPA, Montgomery County, and District of Columbia. Her passions included ornithology, birdwatching, love and care of dogs, and teaching others about the environment. She was named employee of the year in Montgomery County for her work teaching elementary school students what natural wonders were right in their own backyards and local streams. She also enjoyed leisure travel – especially to Chincoteague, VA, care for the elderly, and horseback riding.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 3630 Quesada Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20015 on Thursday December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a receiving reception in the Parish Center. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, and to fulfill Diane’s wishes, please make a donation in her memory (Diane M Davis) to either The Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY or the Humane Society of the United States – Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, Washington, DC.
