ERWIN, Bruce A.

BRUCE ALLEN ERWIN (Age 64)

On Monday, June 4, 2018, of Olney, MD.  Beloved husband of Liz Erwin; father of Jeni Harmon; grandfather of Ben and Madi Harmon; brother of Linda Hartman, Bonita Schumacher, Brenda Pulliam, Ronald Erwin and Pamela Enright; preceded in death by parents Willard and Donna Erwin and brother Karl Erwin.

Bruce grew up in a military family. His father was a naval helicopter pilot and a Pearl Harbor survivor.  Living in many different areas of the United States, Bruce developed a love for traveling.  He was born in Providence, RI and graduated from high school in Grove City, Ohio.  Bruce joined the Army in 1975 and was stationed at Ft. Carson, CO.  After two years at Ft. Carson, he was accepted into the prestigious 3rd US Infantry Regiment, known as “The Old Guard” or “Escort of the President” located at Arlington Cemetery, Ft. Myer, VA.

After leaving the Army, Bruce became involved in the auto body industry. He partnered in Kelly Auto Body in 1980 and succeeded in growing the business to one of the largest independent auto body shops in Maryland. He purchased Rockville Auto Body in 1989 with his wife Liz, which they successfully grew and operated until retiring in 2013.

Bruce loved his hobbies such as off shore fishing with friends, monthly poker games, trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City and restoring old cars. Bruce proudly participated in the World of Wheels Car Show series, showing his 1967 Camaro along the east coast with several trips to Canada.  One of his great loves was riding his Harley’s with friends, taking long distance trips to Canada, riding the Tail of the Dragon in TN, and visiting family & friends in Ohio.  In 2016, he took a solo cross country trip to see the redwoods in Washington State.

Bruce was especially proud to participate with his friends each year in the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally, honoring our Vietnam veterans. Thankfully, he was able to participate in the 30th Anniversary Ride on May 24th 2018.

Bruce’s kind, giving and loving heart will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

PHYLLIS JEAN DAVIS (Age 74)

Born into eternal life on Sunday, June 3, 2018, Phyllis Jean Davis of Rockville, MD. Beloved wife of 58 years of Robert L. Davis, Sr.; mother of Robert L., Jr. (Michelle), William A. (Sona), Benjamin A. (Shannon), Bryan M. Davis.  Grandmother of Gregory, Trey, Kevin, Ashley, Alexis, Sami, Lexi and Sara.  Sister of Betty McBride, Barbara Ann Masters and Morris Downs. She is also survived by many other loving family and friends – she truly made everyone feel like family. Relatives and friends may call at St. Ignatius Church, Rte 80 & Prices Distillery Rd, Ijamsville, MD, on Tuesday, June 12,  from 5 to 8 PM, where Memorial service will be offered on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11 AM. On Monday, June 4, 2018, of Rockville, MD. Beloved wife of the late David J. Soderstrum for 63 years succumbed after a short stay at Casey House. Dear mother of daughter Theresa (Bobby) Lindenmayer, sons David (Marji) and John (Amy) Soderstrum. Cherished grandmother of Justin Michael Williams, Zachary Allen Soderstrum, Kelly Brooks Soderstrum, Robert James Soderstrum, and Lorrilee Patrice Soderstrum. Alice is also survived by her brother Bob Drescher and many other loving relatives and friends. On Sunday, June 3, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late George Slate. Also survived by four nephews. Her memorial service and interment will be held at a family cabin near Williamsport, PA, which she and George dearly loved.

On Friday, June 1, Joseph Patrick Harrington of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Rockville, MD departed this life.  Joey is survived by his fiancé Daniela Abatelli, his mother Susan Dolan, his father and stepmother Hap and Karen Harrington; brother JD Harrington; stepsister Brittany Aebersold; Grandmother Diane Sloat and Faye Spencer; Aunts Linda Horan (Chris), Erin Bailey, Rollin Levin and the late Dianne Harrington; cousin Kevin Horan (Lizzy), nephew and niece Declan and Elly Key Bailey. Joey also leaves behind the extended Rowe and Mulligan families. Joey will be forever remembered in both Wilmington and Rockville by many loving family and friends. In Joey’s death, he has given the gift of life to many as an organ donor.

MOLINA, Roberto Benedicto

 

ROBERTO BENEDICTO MOLINA (Age 73)

It is with great sadness that the family of Roberto Benedicto Molina, of Hyattsville, MD announces his passing on Saturday, May 26, 2018.  Roberto will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carmen and his children, Johanna and Leslie and his two sons-in-law, Bert and Adrian Brian.  Roberto will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, Samantha, Lily and Enzo, his sisters, Elba and Lucy and his brothers, Renato, Carlos, and Manuel.  Roberto will be forever remembered by all his nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Viewing services will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking) from Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Roberto at St. Camillus Church, 1600 St. Camillus Drive, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, June 4, at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in the family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

MUCCINO, Mary Dolores

 

Mary Dolores Muccino

Portland, ME- Mary Dolores Muccino, 96, of Holiday Drive, long time resident of Silver Spring Maryland, passed away on May 30, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Edward and Aileen (McGowan) Campbell.   Dolores graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Homewood Pennsylvania. She worked for Mine Safety and Rosenbaum’s as a young woman. Dolores moved to Maryland to work on Capitol Hill for Senator William Knowland of California in the early 1950’s. She met Angelo J. Muccino in 1956 , married in June of 1957.  She enjoyed activities with her family, working on projects at church and, her volunteer position as librarian at St. Bernadette’s School. Dolores was a long time member of the St. Bernadette’s Sodality.

Dolores was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Angelo J. Muccino, in 2017; her grandson, Bogart Salzberg in 2016 and her sister Margaret Jean Schleicher in 1998.  She is survived by a daughter, Annemarie Muccino-Salzberg and her husband, Steve Salzberg of New Gloucester, ME; a son, Stephen Muccino and his wife Anita Kennedy-Muccino of New Oxford, PA,  4 grandchildren Chandra Williams (Anthony), Sasha Salzberg (Evan Carroll), Caleb Armstrong (Christie), Benjamin Salzberg, Christopher Salzberg (Marlaina) and 6 great-grandchildren Noah Mueller, Sam Mossberg, Luke Williams, Jesse Carroll, Olivia Salzberg and Sonny Carroll.

Visitation will be at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West Silver Spring, Maryland 20901 (Valet Parking) on Tuesday June 5th from 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Church , 70 University Blvd. East Silver Spring, MD Wednesday June 6th at 10 am. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.

Holt, III (Cheryl-anne), and James Holt (Robin); grandmother of Bonnie, Ben, Nancy, Zachary, Chelsea, and Grace; twin sister of Stephen Murphy (the late Adean), and sister of the late Maurice Murphy; sister-in-law of Judy Rollins (Michael) and Ann Holt (the late Frank). KLOEHN, Harvey Glen

HARVEY GLEN KLOEHN

of Silver Spring MD died on Thursday, May 31st, 2018 at the age of 89. Harvey was born on July 10th, 1929 in McMillian, Wisconsin. He was the first in his family to attend college and graduated with honors with a degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University in 1951. Harvey served in the military as an electronics officer at Memphis Naval Air Station from 1952 to 1955 and served in the Naval Reserves for another 5 years. Harvey worked as an civilian engineer for the Navy from 1955 to 1985, first at Bureau of Ships and then at NAVSEA designing electrical system for submarines, aircraft carriers, and destroyers. After retiring from Civil Service, Harvey went on to work for Westinghouse in both Germany and the United States before retiring in 1991. Harvey was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, having previously served as the president of the congregation. Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ann Kloehn, his devoted children Patricia Ann Kloehn (Tom Bentz) and David Glen Kloehn (Tracey), his loving grandchildren Leslie, Evan, Alexandra, and Joshua, and his younger brother Gordon Kloehn (Joanne). Harvey will also be forever remembered for his kindness, humor and devotion by his beloved brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 5th at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9545 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. H. David Pixler  

On Monday, May 28, 2018, of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Millie “Babe” Pixler; father of Dave Pixler and Tammy Pixler; proud granddad of Jasmine Pixler Skully (Dane) and PO2 Steffan Michael Pixler, USN. Also survived by many loving family and friends. Mr. Pixler was 87.  Dave had never been in a hospital (including his birth) until now. He grew up in Morgantown, WV and was in the Morgantown HS Marching Band. After a stint in the Navy, Dave worked at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. He was actively involved in politics, President of the Pool association and PTA, In retirement Dave and his wife Millie (married 62 years), drove across the USA a few times in their van (with personalized wheel cover “Millie & Dave) and traveled overseas (their favorite destination was Alaska). Most important to Dave was Family and friends.  A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
