(Age 93)
On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Helene M. Clark, PhD.; father of Helene C. Highbarger (Lane) and Michael L. Clark (Patrick Jones); foster father of Michael J. Floyd; grandfather of Anders A. and Jeroen L. Highbarger. Also survived by other loving family and friends. Lloyd devoted his life to his family and to public service. He served the country working for the FBI and NSA, and his community through his work with St. Michael’s church and Mt. Carmel House. When he wasn’t relaxing at home in Silver Spring with a Manhattan (straight up, at least three cherries, ice on the side), he could be found at his retreat in Hidden Valley, PA or on an adventure in Argentina, South Africa, or upstate New York. He was a joyful, kind, generous and honorable man – a very special person who will be missed by everyone he knew. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Historic Church, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. Inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Contributions, in his memory, may be made to the Carmelite Sisters of Charity is 1222 Monroe St., N.E., Washington, DC 20017, ATTN: Sr. Rosa Alvarez.

On May 7th, 2018, Vasiliki “Bessie” Boutselis (nee Libereas) of Silver Spring, MD passed away in the presence of her loved ones. Born in Greece on March 10th,1936 in Kardamyli, Messenia. Beloved wife for 58 years to the late Panagiotis Pete Boutselis; devoted mother to Peter Boutselis and his wife, Olympia, and Penny Padousis and her husband, Evan; loving grandmother to Alexi Arcangioli, Katerina Boutselis, and Zoe Padousis. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11th, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 2504 Cub Hill Rd, Parkville, MD. Viewing 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by funeral services. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery 3480 Saint Johns Ln, Ellicott City, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

WELLINGTON, William F. “Bill”

William F. Wellington “Bill”
Lt. Col., U.S. Army (Ret.)
Died peacefully on May 4, 2018, age 96 at the senior-living home in Rockville, MD where he and his wife, Gloria, lived. Bill was a pilot in the Army Air Corps and in WWII he served with the First Air Commando Group stationed in Burma. For meritorious service in the war, he was awarded various medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. In July 2016, these medals were officially conferred on him in person by Secretary of State John Kerry at a private ceremony in Secretary Kerry’s office.
After the war, he graduated from St. Michael’s College with a BA and then Catholic University with an MA in economics and went on to work for the Department of Commerce and at the CIA as an economist for almost 30 years. Bill was also a renowned ice hockey player and was the founder and former captain of the Geri-Hatricks, a team of Washington, DC-area men and women aged 60 and older. At age 79, he was captain of the Geri-Hatricks team that won a gold medal in ice hockey at the 2000 National Senior Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. The day after his death, a special message was displayed in his honor at Capital One Arena during the Capitals vs Penguins Stanley Cup play-off game that read: “In memoriam Bill Wellington, Ft. Dupont ice rink hockey legend, founding Geri-Hatricks team member.”
Bill was born July 2, 1921 and raised in Detroit, and was a long-time resident of both Silver Spring and Adelphi, MD. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria; one living brother, Paul; daughters Patty (Nicoll) and Mary; sons Matthew, John, and Tom; and grandchildren Ryan, Chloe, Nicolas, and Charlotte. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Billy.
Bill’s memorial service will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Silver Spring, MD at 11 a.m. on May 14, 2018 with his burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

BEAVER, Michael Phillip

 

MICHAEL PHILLIP BEAVER

Michael Phillip Beaver, age 39, of Acme, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.  Born in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Linda Susan (McNair) Beaver and William R. Beaver.  He was a graduate of Saint Vincent College where he studied Political Science with a minor in Graphic Design and earned his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.  He was a member of the Ohio and California State Bar.  Most recently, he served as the Assistant Parliamentarian for the U.S. Senate.  Prior to that, he served as Deputy Legislative Counsel for the State of California.  Aside from being a brilliant attorney, Michael was passionate about hockey and music, a talented cook, avid gardener, and gifted artist.  He was a loving husband to his wife Gilda, and he was a caring, fun, and patient father to his two young boys, Bradley Dastan Beaver (age 3) and Connor Milad Beaver (age 2).  His smart wit and dry sense of humor will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, wife, and children, Michael is survived by his brother Christopher Beaver and wife Eunice, nephews Benjamin and Aaron Beaver, his aunt Diana and uncle Bob Durbin and their children, mother-in-law Shahla Alishahi, father-in-law Reza Mossadegh, sister-in-law Mahsa Mossadegh-Sorn, nieces Isabella and Alexandra Sorn, and many other family and friends.

The viewings for Michael will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018, and the funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Francis J.
