DAVID “DAVEY” EDWARD OAKES
Passed away suddenly at his home in Chevy Chase, MD on November 6, 2017. He is survived by his parents, David and Nancy Oakes, his brother, Kevin and family and friends near and far. A graduate of Rockville HS, Davey attended Salisbury University where he studied political science and economics; he was employed by Carahsoft Technology Corporation of Reston, VA. Davey loved discussing politics and current events. Throughout his life he enjoyed baseball, snowboarding, fantasy football and summers on the Outer Banks with friends and family. Hugh E. McNealy (Age 86)
On Thursday, November 9, 2017, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Alice McNealy; father of Suzanne Abell, Hugh Edward McNealy III, Julia McNelly, her husband Brad McNelly, and the late little Alice McNealy; grandfather of LisaMarie Campbell, her husband Patrick Campbell, Richard Bradley McNelly, Jr., and Christopher Aaron McNelly; brother of June Wilks, and the late Roger McNealy. Other family members include Kelly Raygor and Roger Roberts.
Hugh E. McNealy, began working for the Leisure World Corporation in 1978 as an electrician and shortly thereafter was promoted to Service Manager. Mr. McNealy served in this capacity until his promotion to his current position of Director of the Physical Properties Department.
Mr. McNealy served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, in the “Service Squandron 2”, with home port in Norfolk, Virginia and assignments to Iceland, Scotland, France, Norway, the Caribbean, Cuba, Panama and Canada.
Licensed as an electrician in Washington, DC in 1950, and working in the HVAC trade since 1949, Mr. McNealy currently holds an active Master’s License in Washington DC and Montgomery County in his trade.
The honor of Installer of the Year, Nationwide for Sears was bestowed upon Mr. McNealy in 1972.
Mr. McNealy has been a member of International Association of Electrical Inspectors, a member of the Electrical Construction and Maintenance Evaluation Panel, a member of the National Fire Protection Association and attended Carrier Heat Pump School for certification in 1983.
Mr. McNealy lived in Silver Spring, Forest Glen area since 1941. He and his wife, who was employed by the Montgomery County Board of Education, enjoyed traveling in their spare time.
