LAM FU

Lam Fu, 87, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away on June 10, 2015. Lam was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in China, he started a family and an herbal medicine business in Vietnam. He ended up leaving the war torn country to raise his family in the United States. Beloved husband of the late Khai Yen Luc; loving father of  Ngoc Luong, Jonathan Fu, Winson Fu, Vi Phu, Ha Nguy, Phu Phu, Phan Ly, Anthony Fu, and Minh Phu. Survived by 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Family and friends may attend the visitation service at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 10 am to 11 am, where Funeral Service will follow at 11 am. Burial service immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

LINDA LEE HINES(Age 70)

Passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Linda of Kensington, MD was the beloved wife for 50 years of Norman R. Hines; daughter of Lena Wade and the late Samuel Wade; mother of Rick Hines (Chrissy) and Holli Hines Easton (Ian); sister of Barbara Bishop (Jim); grandmother of Smith and Asher Easton and Heather Pocius.  Also survived by three great grandchildren, Braeden, Anastyn, and Emersyn Pocius and other loving family and friends. “Frank” (Age 94)

On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband for 68 years of Nunziata “Nancy” Sottile; loving father of Nina Coviello (John), Clara Moore (James) and Maryanne Morgan; devoted grandfather of Vincent and Nicole (James) Coviello, the late Adrianna Marks, Jessica, Rachel and Matthew (Erica) Moore and Franklin Morgan; great-grandfather of Francis, Clara and James Marks and John Franco Kim; brother of Rosina Puglisi and Giuseppina Briguglio and the late Carmela Rascona. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Giuseppe Rascona, many nieces, nephews, friends and his devoted caregiver, Rosa Rodriguez. Received his Masters of International Relations from Boston University and a Certificate of International Law from the Hague. Grandmother of Kenneth, Derek, Della, William, Shane, Michael, Stefanye, Daniel, Bernadette, Patrick, Kaylee, Lindsay, Adam, Jessica, Krystle, Joshua, Sonny, Danielle and Mariana.  JOANNE CHANDLER STATHES

 Joanne Chandler Stathes, of Silver Spring, MD, a sparkling diamond among the dozen children born to the late Guy and Inez Martin Chandler, in Dante, Virginia, entered into eternal life June 2, 2015. A visitation for friends and family will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD, at 10 AM on Friday, June 5, prior to the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD. In 1957, Joanne started a lifelong career with Kluge & Co., a food brokerage firm that quickly expanded to become Kluge, Finkelstein & Company, one of the premier food brokerage companies in the Washing- ton/Baltimore area. In 1971, Joanne was promoted to Vice President, leading to part ownership of the firm in 1986. She retired from the food brokerage business in 1997. She was inducted into the Maryland Food Industry Hall Of Fame in September 2012. Joanne supported many organizations and, in particular, Foundation for Blindness. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Arion Chapter 298 of Silver Spring, where she served in many positions including Chapter President and District 3 Governor. Joanne, was an elegant, caring and sensitive woman in all of her relationships; a respected and honored role model, mentor, confidant and friend to many. She was a worldwide traveler, enjoyed life to the fullest; her home, affectionately known as “the chapel” due to the numerous wedding ceremonies hosted there. Joanne’s passion and delight was entertaining her many lifelong friends and, most importantly, her family, who was always invited to festive occasions and holiday celebrations. Above all, Joanne was absolutely devoted to her husband, the late S. Thomas Stathes. Joanne is the mother of John Forbes, step-mother of Christopher (Deborah) Stathes, loving grandmother of Nathan, Austin, Alexander, Gregory, and Hilary; great-grandmother to Vivian, Thomas, and Dylan. Joanne, who will be long-remembered as her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her many friends, caretakers, and Holy Cross Home Care and Hospice, who attended to her through the final days of her earthly journey.
