Bonnie Ward Gilday

Bonnie Ward Gilday, age 95, of Silver Spring, Maryland, a native and former resident of the Green Valley Community, passed away Saturday morning, March 28, 2015, at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone, North Carolina.
Bonnie was born April 28, 1919 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Council A. Ward and Millie Trivette Ward. For many years, she made her home in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for the Federal Government, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton.
Mrs. Gilday is survived by one grandson, Keith Gilday of Reno, Nevada; one daughter-in-law, Lelia Gilday, of Castro Valley, California; four sisters, Betty James of Lexington, North Carolina, Celia Trivette of Boone, Ruth Walsh and husband Lester of Athens, Tennessee and Madeline Hatley of Hudson, North Carolina, and one sister-in-law, Thelma Ward of Sugar Grove. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including nieces Dianne Eggers and Danette Mixon, who have been her caregivers for the past three years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Edward Gilday, a son, Ronald Edward Gilday, a daughter Linda Sue Gilday, two sisters, Annie Ward and Lizzie Combs, and four brothers, Alfred, John Henry, Grayson and Albert Ward.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, from 12:00 until 12:30 o’clock, at Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Graveside services and burial for Bonnie Ward Gilday will be conducted Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2015, at 1:00 o’clock, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Rockville, Maryland. Officiating will be Reverend Larry White and Pastor David Ward.
