She obtained her Master’s Degree at the University of Maryland and became a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychoanalyst for Montgomery County Crisis Center and the Abused Persons Department. ABRAHAM TIEN-SHEN HUANG

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Silver Spring resident Abraham Tien-Shen Huang, 90, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and admired friend to many, passed away and entered eternal peace surrounded by his family on April 3, 2015. Mr. Huang was born on May 1, 1924 in Amoy-Fujian, China. In December 1955, he married the love of his life, Cecilia Jia Ping Huang, in Taiwan. They moved to the US in 1969 with their three children. Mr. Huang leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his devoted wife, Cecilia, and their three adoring children, Edmund Huang, Bibiana Huang Matheis and Dona Huang; daughter-in-law Lolita Fisher Huang; sons-in-law Frank Matheis and Jerry Huang. He adored his grandchildren, Maya Matheis, Monica Huang, Nicholas Huang, Sarah Huang, and Alexander Huang. His great grandchild, Lilea Huang, who he adored and overjoyed him. Mr. Huang was widely respected Chinese-American citizen and a master artistic Chinese calligrapher. He was admired for his many skills and passions as a prolific writer, newspaper columnist and poet. His articles and poetry was published in newspapers and periodicals all over the Chinese speaking world, including the US and Canada. His book of poetry was received with high acclaim and readers worldwide looked forward to his witty and incisive newspaper columns. Mr. Huang’s calligraphy writing earned him wide reaching admiration. Both fellow writers and calligraphers praised his vast, scholarly knowledge of the Chinese language and his aesthetic brushwork. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, April 8 from 10 to 11 a.m., where Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Andary), Patricia O’Connell Pearson (Paul), Terence O’Connell (Jillian), Michael O’Connell (Amy), and Daniel O’Connell (Cronan). Sister of John F. Healy. Grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Of Silver Spring, MD. On Thursday, March 26, 2015. Beloved wife of John William Rodgers; mother of Virginia Mae Rodgers and Deborah Ann Norris; grandmother of Patrick and Laura Norris; great-grandmother of Preslee Ann-Elizabeth Norris and Camden John Norris; sister of the late Helen Muskett and Harry Hantzes; daughter of the late Nicholas and Virginia Hantzes. Born and raised in Mt. Carmel, PA, Olympia and John were childhood sweethearts, married for 64 years, living a full and active life until Olympia’s first stroke in 2008. She had retired from the National Education Association in December 1994. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Chapel on the grounds of Oakdale Emory Methodist Church, Olney, MD. Inurnment, Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to a charity of one’s choice in Olympia’s honor.

Bonnie Ward Gilday, age 95, of Silver Spring, Maryland, a native and former resident of the Green Valley Community, passed away Saturday morning, March 28, 2015, at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone, North Carolina.

Bonnie was born April 28, 1919 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Council A. Ward and Millie Trivette Ward. For many years, she made her home in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for the Federal Government, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton.

Mrs. Gilday is survived by one grandson, Keith Gilday of Reno, Nevada; one daughter-in-law, Lelia Gilday, of Castro Valley, California; four sisters, Betty James of Lexington, North Carolina, Celia Trivette of Boone, Ruth Walsh and husband Lester of Athens, Tennessee and Madeline Hatley of Hudson, North Carolina, and one sister-in-law, Thelma Ward of Sugar Grove. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including nieces Dianne Eggers and Danette Mixon, who have been her caregivers for the past three years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Edward Gilday, a son, Ronald Edward Gilday, a daughter Linda Sue Gilday, two sisters, Annie Ward and Lizzie Combs, and four brothers, Alfred, John Henry, Grayson and Albert Ward.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, from 12:00 until 12:30 o’clock, at Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Graveside services and burial for Bonnie Ward Gilday will be conducted Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2015, at 1:00 o’clock, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Rockville, Maryland. Officiating will be Reverend Larry White and Pastor David Ward.
