JOHN NOEL LAWLESS (Age 83)
Jocelyn Anna Sweet (Moore)
Please join us for a celebration, Saturday, April 26 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at American University, Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Avenue. NW, Washington, DC.
Jocelyn Anna Sweet (Moore) died April 2, 2014, at age 31, after a hard-fought battle with bone cancer. Jocelyn was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, and received her B.A. with honors from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where she was a member of the volleyball team and president of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Jocelyn refused to be defined by illness, and joyfully embraced the present. In the years since her diagnosis, she earned a J.D. from American University and became a health insurance specialist at the Department of Health and Human Services, a position that allowed her to focus her considerable talent and energy on making sure others had access to health care.
She is survived by her loving parents, Laurie Kaslove and David Moore, and her adoring husband, Brian Sweet. The eldest of the ‘Moore Girls,’ she will be forever missed by her sisters, Megan and Hannah, and her brother-in-law Isaac Hammond-Paul. She was the beloved daughter-in-law of Nancy and Bob Sweet, sister-in-law to Laurie Sorto (Sweet), and devoted aunt to her nephew and nieces. A true animal lover, Jocelyn was the proud puppy parent to her two rescues, Rocco and Buddy.
All those who knew Jocelyn will remember her generosity, exuberance, fierce determination, and bold intellect. A private funeral will be held for immediate family. Donations in memory of Jocelyn can be made to the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding better treatments for and building awareness of pediatric cancer.
